If you are face-tanking mobs, I wouldn't advise that (though if you are doing that, it is small wonder that you'd die). I've been killing mobs very easily (on hard) with just a boomerang. It can also be that you are doing something wrong. If all weapons i loot are weak to kill one mob and i have repeatitively 5-10 other to kill around you can understand it's pain to play.
